Katie Lang Brown and Brian Brown cofounded Silk and Sage Design in 2015, as a creative and inspirational space focusing on sustainable DIY. Their mission: to work with eco-friendly, non-toxic, and durable materials, and to save items with 'good bones' from landfills! They couple this with a focus on not only Do It Yourself, but also on forming creative connections with others throughout the process.
As the daily face of the Shop & Studio, Katie's livelihood focuses on upcycling as a way of life. Having a background in the arts with a BFA in Art History, and having studied Art Restoration in Florence, she believes that every 'artifact' of life contains a story. These stories include where something has been, whose hands something has passed through... and that repurposing items into our lives can weave inspiration into our own stories. She also believes that creatively transforming our 'sacred' place of home and work can unfold beauty, happiness and peace. Through Silk and Sage Design, she helps to empower your daily creative choices for healthy and sustainable environments all around. When you stop by, you may notice that her favorite decorative looks fuse Bohemian-Modern and Southwestern styles! She asks you-- what is YOUR favorite style?
