Bio Savvy® Stains

Why do we love Bio Savvy® Stains? They are: 100% biodegradable, fume/ VOC-free, interior AND exterior grade, sustainable, and SO easy to use! Choose from 4 main stain colors: Dark Walnut, Ebony, Java, and Roasted Pecan. Each come in an 8 oz. tin, which covers approximately 50-75 sq.ft. each at full-strength. That’s a ton more than regular stains!

Brush on straight from the 8 oz. tin for a more rustic and textured look, or ‘dilute’ with Scumble glaze medium to make them more wipeable and transparent, or even to create a true glaze over some porous surfaces with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan.

Create layered looks by staining one color on top of the other (see the photo with Ebony over Roasted Pecan), or mix stains together to create custom stain colors! We’ve even lightly tinted some of the Bio Savvy colors with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan for even more custom stain tint effects. You can stencil with them too, how cool is that? To seal, you can leave them ‘unsealed’ as-is for a more matte look in lower-medium traffic and weathering situations. We’ve had great success sealing them with Clear Topcoat Sealer for added protection while still staying matte. OR, we have also had great success sealing them with our favorite water-based varnishes and polys for added depth and lustre.
